FLIX RS-485
Professional RS-485 / Crestron compatible keypad frame. Two variants: 3-Element Frame and 4-Element Frame. Replaces AC power module and Wi-Fi with clean 24V DC wired control.
Frame Layout & Element Structure
The FLIX RS-485 product comes in two frame variants. Each frame fits into a standard Indian electrical backbox. The frame has smart keypad elements on the left and right, and physical socket elements in the center.

Current Design vs New RS-485 Design
The consumer FLIX uses Wi-Fi/Zigbee and an AC power module. The RS-485 professional version removes both and replaces them with a clean wired RS-485 interface.
Two RS-485 Devices per Frame
Both the 3-element and 4-element frame have exactly 2 RS-485 devices inside — the LEFT keypad and the RIGHT keypad. Center socket elements have no RS-485 connection.

PCB Modifications — Per Keypad Element
These changes apply to each 4-button keypad PCB. Both LEFT and RIGHT keypads need identical modifications. Same PCB design works for 3-element and 4-element frame.

4-Pin Screw Terminal Specification
Each keypad PCB has one 4-pin screw terminal on the back. All RS-485 data and 24V power go through this single connector.

Communication Protocol — Modbus RTU
Both keypad elements use Modbus RTU over RS-485. The Crestron processor is the Master. Each FLIX keypad is a Slave with its own address.

Firmware Requirements
For the firmware engineer. Same firmware code for LEFT and RIGHT keypad PCBs. Same firmware for 3-element and 4-element frame. Only DIP switch address differs.
